The Governor of NSW Her Excellency Marie Bashir AV CVO is now Vice Regal Patron of Enough is Enough Anti Violence Movement Inc.
Professor Bashir, the first woman to be appointed Governor of NSW, took up her office on 1 March 2001. Born, of Lebanese descent, in Narrandera in the Riverina district of NSW, and educated at Narrandera Public School and Sydney Girls High School, Marie Bashir gained her bachelor degrees in medicine and surgery in 1956 from the University of Sydney.
Dr Bashir taught at the Universities of Sydney and NSW, increasingly working with children's services, psychiatry and mental health services, and indigenous health programs. At the time of her appointment as Governor of NSW, she was Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Sydney (a post she took up in 1993); Area Director of Mental Health Services Central Sydney (from 1994); and Senior Consultant to the Aboriginal Medical Service, Redfern (from 1996) and to the Aboriginal Medical
Service, Kempsey.
Professor Ken Rigby, University of South Australia -
Dr Ken Rigby is an ex-school teacher, currently Adjunct Professor (Research) in the School of Education at the University of South Australia. He has published widely in both academic and professional journals, especially on peer victimisation, and is the author of several books on bullying. He is the author of ten books on bullying. These include "New Perspectives on Bullying"(2002), "Children and Bullying: How parents and educators can reduce bullying in schools"(2008) and "Bullying Interventions in Schools: Six basic Approaches"(2010). He has been employed as consultant and adviser to both Australia State and Federal Education Departments. He has been engaged to speak at many conferences around the world and to provide workshops for teachers and counsellors. His work on bullying is described at www.kenrigby.net.
The Hon Greg James QC -
Former Judge of the NSW Supreme Court and Royal Commissioner. The Hon Greg James QC is presently the President of the NSW Mental Health Revier Trubunal and Adjunct Professor at the School of Law Southern Cross University and Visiting Professor and Chair of the Curriculum Committee at the Law School University of Western Sydney.
