Law & Justice

"Currently there is no justice - just-us!"

Following the personal experiences of Ken Marslew, his family and associates, and others that our organisation have assisted through the legal process, we see the need for legal reform to put justice into our current legal system. In order to effect change we are represented on several state panels.

Major areas of concern are:

  • Inappropriate sentences
  • Inconsistency in sentencing
  • Accountability of judicial officers
  • The sentencing process
  • The development of alternatives to short prison sentences
  • The development of programs to encourage greater use of co-operative justice strategies

For example

  • Conferencing
  • Circle Sentencing
  • Community Involvement in Sentencing
  • Alternative dispute resolution programs

We believe that the sentencing process should focus on positive outcomes for all concerned - Victim, Community and Offender.
