Wompybomp Workshops & Exhibition
Presented by Artist Philip Aspden
Proudly supported by Enough Is Enough Anti Violence Movement Inc.
Wompybomp Workshops are interactive art activities that have developed from Philips drawing and verse performances for the "Fundays" program at the Art Gallery of NSW since 1991; and are held at the new gallery space in the city, "72 Erskine" along with an exhibition of paintings and drawings that relate to the activities.
The workshops draw upon the unique "Bushy" characters first seen in Philips picture book: "The Bushys and the Green Ant Blunderbang". Verse has been added to these characters along with songs in collaboration with singer/songwriter, Ray Cumming. Recorded demonstration songs will be used within the workshops.
Students will be empowered by telling Philip what the big Bunyip should look like: How many legs? Long or short ears? Big teeth? What colour? Some may even want to help on the artwork! Inspiration from characters like Jumbly, Goggles Toggles, and the greatest Aussie artist of all, Vincent Van Goanna, will see them happily sit down and create their very own bushy creatures in artwork and verse.

72 Erskine - The Sydney International Cultural Centre
Several friends and families with interests in cultural, social welfare and communications got together in 2005 to purchase 72 Erskine Street as The Sydney International Centre, a trust that also envisages developing other spaces like "72 Erskine".
"72 Erskine" is the trading name for the venue when used for meetings, gatherings, corporate & special events, exhibitions and commercial activities.
Through "The Sydney International Cultural Centre", a not-for-profit association, the trust also promotes cultural exchange and education programmes, brings Australian artists overseas and foreign artists to Australia, and stages concerts which also benefit important social welfare activities especially in the developing countries of Asia.
